The vocation of the Wellness Hotel Katalin is to assure the guests, based on their own motivation, experiences at every moment of the stay and to exceed their expectations. As a host, due to our hospitality and continuous development we do everything we can to make you feel you want to return as soon as you leave the hotel. We want to ensure the satisfaction of the guests in a family environment, with the high quality and flexibility of our services. In addition, we feel to make a contribution to the development of Gyenesdiás and the domestic hotel industry with the aid of our resources, our expertise and creativity. The most important part of our company philosophy is the continuous development and the guest- and market oriented business policy, which you can learn more about in our company history.

The Wellness Hotel Katalin **** is operated as a family business. The company started selling guest rooms in 1989 in Vonyarcvashegy, in the immediate vicinity of Gyenesdiás.
Our company in the tourist industry started in the settlement on the bank of the Balaton with the distribution of rooms and apartments of our family house, which had accommodation for 35 persons. We were among the first hosts at this time, who had offered the accommodation including breakfast. Soon our offer was completed with a bar and a swimming pool, followed by the air-conditioning of the house. During this time, these additional services were unique. The majority of our guests came from the German speaking countries. For us the season at Lake Balaton lasted from March to November and was not limited to the summer months only. In the middle of the nineties our range of services was supplemented by a bike rental. One of the first rentals in the region. Later scooters were added to the offer. Our marketing consisted practically of nothing but 'mouth propaganda', one guest brought the other. We were able to build up a fairly large base of regular guests. However for further development and expansion, the house was too small, we had to look for a new property.
In Gyenesdiás, close to the Diás beach, we found the 7500 m2 plot, which we had to acquire from a total of 13 people, since the property was not divided. In the winter of 1999, our pension "Haus Kati", with more than 50 accommodation places was built. Both houses were booked by German speaking guests. We were able to further expand the number of satisfied regular guests, which gave us the opportunity for additional developments, extensions. For the next season a swimming pool was built for the pension in Gyenesdiás. Followed by 2 apartment houses in 2003 and 2004 that were very popular among our guests due to their separate entrances, several rooms and kitchens. In summer 2006 we welcomed the first, Hungarian guests. In domestic tourism the demand for wellness, year-round opening hours and higher-level accommodation began to increase during this time. We felt obliged to adapt to the market conditions. For this however, a bigger step was necessary, the decision to build a wellness hotel was made.
In the winter of 2006, the wellness hotel was built to the pension building. The spa area consisted of a swimming pool, a Jacuzzi, a Finnish sauna, an infrared cabin and a fitness room. At the beginning, our restaurant offered only breakfast, later the half-board was added. Our accommodation capacity in Gyenesdiás reached 160 persons, which allowed us to focus only on Gyenesdiás. For the family house in Vonyarcvashegy neither the energy nor the possibility remained.
This was the time it all started for us in the hotel industry. The events accelerated more and more. We managed our hotel business with continuous developments at all-year opening hours. Through our role as 'lovely hosts', which we had learned over the past 18 years, it was possible for us to win a new base of regular guests by keeping their demands in mind.
Without significant external support, we could only rely on our own resources for any further development. So we decided to follow a non-typical strategy in the hotel industry and invested the majority of our income, more than 1 million Euro in the further development of the hotel. This way, the today's hotel complex with its huge indoor wellness section that received the official Hotelstars Union 4-star superior category, was built.
